I so hate to run when we all have such a good time around here, but I really must.

Hubs and I have custody of three of our nephews. One sweet almost-teenager, one precious 3rd grader, and a lovable little scamp of a 3-year-old.

We're going to need a minute (or a million) to get used to the adjustments, so until I have my lists made and my Ts crossed and Is dotted, I'm going to be a little scarce around here.

Say a prayer, would you? For wisdom and hope and victory and healing and all things good. We need those things. ;)

Be back soon!

Fashion Friday

I recently found this shirt at Ross' for $7.49. I threw it on one day to run errands and then spent the next 2 days in it.

It's the cold, hard truth.

Fashion Friday

I think the summer heat is starting to bake my brain, because I've already started pulling out cool weather clothing and wearing it. It's my big, bad rebellious statement against the sun and heat and drought and general discomfort. Regardless of the fact that it's been triple digit weather EVERY DAY.

EVERY DAY IN CAPS, just in case you missed that.

Signs of the Times.

Have you ever seen an altered sign? 'Cause I see one like this every day. We live in a rural area, which is why it's especially funny that our stop sign has 'hammertime' spray-stenciled across the bottom.

Fashion Friday

Sometimes inspiration hits in the randomest of ways.

Sometimes I see a picture of a random person I don't even know and think 'HEY! Sweet 'fit. I could totally replicate that!'

[Germany vs. Spain, FIFA World Cup 2010]

Except for my brain has never used the term 'sweet 'fit'. Until now, apparently.

Anyway, my version of this outfit was created almost entirely from Target clearance racks, which I consider a total win.

So there's that.

Happy weekend! :)

Cute As A Button.

Things are a little crazy in our family lately, mostly because of a lack of sleep and a general posessiveness over Oreo cookies.

But also because we have a precious little bundle of joy in the form of my lil' sister's new son, Kingston.

I know. He's already precious and you haven't even seen him, right?

Well, let me fix that for you.

Fashion Friday.

Whew! That week went by quickly.

Since last Friday, where I was dying {almost} of a malicious disease {stomach flu}, I have

1) recovered {by the grace of God, naturally}
2) become an auntie to nephew #4
3) been so uninteresting, I can't even think of a notable 3rd point.

Fashion Sick Friday.

I know, I know.

It's Saturday.

I have impeccable timing, except for not! ;)

My Little Pet... Peeves.

This post is killin' me today.

And the comments?

I'm DYING to death laughing.

Fashion Friday.

This is an unoriginal outfit week. I totally knocked off an outfit worn by the fab Kendi of Kendi Everyday, but I DID use pieces that I've had longer than I've known my husband or had more than one nephew, so, like, totally FOREVER. ;) That means this counts for Fashion Friday originality, right?

Of Sand.

Psalm 139:13-18 {NIV}
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.

Photos of individual grains of sand magnified over 250x from University College, London found here.

You Say Frittata, I Say WHERE?!?

Let it be known that heretofore, I plan to start at least some of my mornings with this yummy, easy peasy recipe for frittata baked in a muffin pan. This is so customizable, y'all - my head is already spinning with visions of sauteed spinach and mushrooms and bell peppers and sundried tomatoes and... You get the general idea.

I'm sure my husband would appreciate my starting those mornings fairly early so he can get in on the goodness, too.

So says the queen. ;)

Just kiddin'.

Happy Monday!

Fashion Friday!

Sweet, summery, comfortable... Emphasis on the comfortable.

I bought my little floral cotton dress from Target LITRALLY [Holla if you get the Parks & Rec reference!] ages ago, always loved it, never really wore it. But it's so light and cool that it's my new fave.

You probably won't be surprised to know I've already tried it on with a boyfriend blazer. ;)

Happy Friday!

This Link Right Here?

This right here is the Urban Barn Make Room website.

It's pretty much awesome, especially if you're like me and you tend to overthink be consumed with enjoy designing your home.

Conspiracy Theories.

Ok, y'all.

I don't normal subscribe to a paranoid, suspicious mentality.

Well, that's almost entirely true. I DO think that Nutella has a pact with the devil to destroy my diet, but that's probably just my sweet tooth talking. ;)

Fashion Revamped Friday

This is a variation of my go to outfit - do you have one of those? Ripped jeans [pegged in the summer, skinny in the winter] + shirt + boyfriend blazer. Accessorize and voila!

I'm not letting go of this trend without a fight, BELIEVE YOU ME.

Let Us Spray.

Do you spray tan?

I do, and I'm kind of mixed about the whole thing. I feel great the day after, and sometimes, for several days after, but you know what they say... Nothing lasts forever!

Except pictures that you upload to the internets, all you kiddos with too much internet time and technology on your hands, EXCEPT THOSE. Those can never be deleted.

Hey, y'all!

Time sure flies when you have birthdays and holidays and baby showers and vacations and nephews spending summer visits - and you notice that you really need to blog but you'll wait until you get a chance to sit down at the computer without interruption or you're hit by random inspiration or both of those occur simultaneously.

I'm just saying.

I'll be back in the bloggy saddle soon, I promise, especially since I have ALL KINDS of things to talk about. And all kinds of things I've read on the internets that I simply must share.

Until then, I know you'll be waiting with bated breath for my return, right? Juuuuuust kidding.

Except not, if you ARE waiting with bated breath. Then, I'm not kidding.

But I might be a little skeered. ;)

Have a great week!

Fashion Late Friday Monday. ;)

Way to stick with a tradition, I know.

I would say that I was far too busy with my VERY EXCITING life to make sure ye olde blog kept posting for me, but that'd be false.

Unless you consider various and sundry errands, bill paying, cooking, and dishes VERY EXCITING. 'Cause that's how it went down.

Also, I'm ashamed to say there was a lot of jammie action in my weekend - I LIVED in yoga pants.

Since I didn't want to terrify small children, though, I did clean up for the public. ;) Please note that this dress would have been perfect for the look I was going for, if I actually owned it. Which would be GREAT. But I don't, so I used a funky old thrifted skirt and an Old Navy t-shirt for a similar effect.

Dress - Les Nouvelles, $253
Gold gladiators - Guiseppe Zanotti, $660
Striped tote bag - Kate Spade, $325
Knot earrings - Simply Soles, $32
Opaque stone ring - Forever21, $5.80
Wonder woman cuff - Charm & Chain, $175
Seaside necklace - Calypso St. Barth, $95

Hope you had an awesome weekend! ;)

This is cracking me up today!

It's sad, but true - these days, people live so on edge, trying to be prepared for any situation, capable and world-weary and suspicious. That kind of pressure can turn a simple, sweet gesture into more grief than before the kindness ever happened.

Let down your guard and live a little. It feels nice to take a break from cynicism. ;)

And by the way, honey? I won't be mad at ALL if you decide to bring flowers home.

Just so we're clear.

Art for your fingers. ;)

I found this easy, FABULOUS nail art how-to from Passion Nail Art via Pinterest and resolved to do it VERY SOON.

When I can figure out the French instructions, that is. ;)

I know I've got all the ingredients....

Nail polish, check. Newspaper, check. Vodka, uhh... Nope.

Well, once I figure out a good alternative for the vodka, I think I can get the hang of the method, too.

Expect to be reading my fingernails shortly. ;)

Happy Monday!

Fashion Friday.

Since I started doing Fashion Friday posts, I've used several of the same items in my outfits. 'Cause y'all, I don't have an endless closet.

Posting only one outfit a week helps me stretch what I have, but trust me, my wardrobe has very definite boundaries.

Also, some days I don't feel like changing purses or putting up my shoes. And that dictates how my next outfit will go. ;)

White shift dress - $96, John Lewis
Grey drape cardi - $156, Karen Millan
Orange suede pumps - $128, Topshop
Jade leather bag - $785, Mulberry
Stacking wavy bracelets - $78, Nordstrom
Gold nugget ring - $427, Not Just A Label
Glass bead earrings - $1490, Julie Wolfe
Glass multi-bead necklace - $395, Net-a-porter

iPhone Photography. :)

Let's talk more about cameras!

More specifically, phone cameras. Can I just say I love technology? 'Cause WOW. We can make our gadgets and gizmos do ANYTHING nowadays.

And I'm trying to do better about picture-taking, honest, I am.

It's a whole lot easier with sweet nephew Ray around, too, because he's so stinking adorable, I can't help but take pictures of everything he does/wears.

We may be crazy, die-hard fans have a little love in our hearts for the San Antonio Spurs, I'm just sayin'.

Fashion Birthday Friday.

'Cause it's my day, I get to feel pretty, oh-so-pretty, right? ;)

Dangerous Curves.

Our society swings wildly between a 'love your body' ideal and a pervasive conviction that a slender, nubile body is the sum of perfection.

I Went To The Goodwills..

Remember when you were younger and car rides consisted of games like 'I went to the store and bought.. ' in alphabetical order?

....Wait, that wasn't just me, right? ;)

Fashion Friday.

Or, that 70s show castoffs.

Either one.

A flare leg is great for thick [read: chubster] girls like myself, and fitted bottoms with a flowy top gives great balance to an outfit. Oh, and platforms? GREAT for making short legs look long and lean.

And that is simply all I have to say about that. ;)

Reiss shirt - $115, John Lewis
Philip Lim flares - $556, Net-a-porter
Metallic platforms - $595, Net-a-porter
Copper tote - $475, Zappos
Feather necklace - $75, Max and Chloe
Stacking bangles - $600, Pret a Beaute
Orange/brown stone ring - $429, Max and Chloe
Peacock earrings - $13, Wet Seal

Happy Friday! :)

One Better.

I just happened to be browsing my favorite links and saw this post at incourage - all I can say is READ IT THIS INSTANT YOU WILL BE MOVED.

Finals! :)

Firstly, I would like to say that this graphic made me giggle.

Faaaashion Friday.

Simple. Summery. Comfortable. Emphasis on the comfortable. ;)
