Evil Marketing. Plus FREE STUFF.

Can I just say something?

Ok, good.

I have a long, involved love/hate relationship with marketing. I love that it keeps me in business and I'm fascinated by the very complex psychology behind every marketing decision a company might possibly want to make.

But I hate when I get taken for a ride. 'Cause I should know better, y'all. You know how a deal looks SO great, and you're excited to be on the email list and interested in keeping up with product updates and related deals from this company?

And then six months later you're marking the ten millionth 'related deal from this company' as spam and cursing the day you ticked that 'yes, please' box?

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

I'm not gonna lie, though, when someone promises me FREE STUFF? All bets are off and I will sign up every time. Trust me. There's a reason this girl has 12 paring knives in the junk drawer.

That's why I scooted my clicker over to http://www.artscow.com/ when I heard about their free stuff. Like 'em on Facebook, get a free coupon code for a custom notepad. Easy, right? Register for free, design your notepad, and order it. That's mine up there, with the cute distressed border and J in the corner.

I know. SO CLEVER, right?

If you're a sucker for marketing gimmicks and junk mail, too, you can head over there yourself.

But don't say I didn't warn you. =)
